Seeking Buyer

I believe I have finally found a buyer for my little xylophone. I restored it and have not found many who are willing to spend the time (or money) to take care of it properly. I am hoping to sell it by the end of the week. I could use the extra money, as well as the extra space in my spare bedroom.

My marimba already takes up one wall, and I would like to set up my computer. I would also like to set up my keyboard - I will be connecting the synthesizer to the computer to aid in charting all of my compositions. I just may be able to put together several of my songs. I should see what it would take to become a songwriter. Most of the venues I've checked out offer very poor deals for the writer/composer. Where is the sense in that?

...

Semester exams...half days...kicking up a stronger regiment of exercise...rehearsal...many things to look forward to...

Theodore and I plan on setting up a composition studio in our extra bedroom as well.

We have decided to set up the "master bedroom" as an office and studio. Our setup sounds like it will be very similar to yours. We will be setting up one of my Macintosh G4 computers with a couple monitors and a decent keyboard to be used for composing.

Eventually I may add in some of my recording and effects equipment, maybe turning into a project recording studio.

It has been a couple years since I have toyed around in music production. But Theodore wants to set up an area for composing, and with my knowledge and experience in the electronic and recording side of things we should eventually be able to set up a cool little project studio.

In any case, I found in interesting you were doing something similar. Even more so that we will be in the same complex.

That being said, We will be moving in on or after February 9th. Apparently there will be no "basic" 3 bedroom units avaliable until then. (I do not think it is worth the extra money for the better cabinets and whatnot.)

I am so happy you will be here soon!

I have been keeping my musical life very much separate from my home life for several years (I had been practicing at the studio where I taught drums), and I feel so incredible bringing it back into my daily routine. I am writing more short stories, too. It's amazing how things are so connected to active musical expression.

Perhaps we could monkey around with music some nights, even if it is only practice and goofing off time. We all need to release steam somehow. I play percussion, piano (keyboard right now, though, as I gave away my upright piano when moving back from Florida in 2004), and I just started playing the ukulele. I am considering purchasing a violin in the next few months, too. I'm not much of a singer, but we can always leave that to you and Theodore.

As far as internet...the complex would not approve us wiring to the spare room, so we've set up camp in the living room. This is quite annoying, as I want to "class up" the joint with some new furniture, etc. We will be setting up a wireless connection soon, which can be quite expensive when looking at the different gadgets required. I highly recommend it, though. Many of my neighbors seem to have it.

...

I agree that the upgraded cabinets, etc. are not worth it. We have a basic two-bedroom unit. The painted white surfaces actually make it easier for me to clean - if it isn't white, it isn't clean. No question there.

Other information:
1. get weather stripping to put in the doorjamb. The old stripping is useless.
2. most of the basements do not have electrical outlets running throughout. (My dad is in the process of installing more for me - it's a relatively simple procedure)
3. acquire TINY living room furniture
4. grills are usually safe on the patio, but you will need to chain or lock the propane tank.
5. buy LOTS of CANDLES (IKEA, which is right up Haggerty, has a huge pack of tea light candles for a low price) because the power goes out frequently. In fact, we lost power here for the better part of an hour last night. Lucky me...grading persuasive essays by candlelight!

Thank you for the advice.

Besides currently being an EMT and my "New" primary job as a dispatcher, I am also the mock Superintendent of all our michigan properties. (because technically the position does not exist). I am more then capable of handling all the maintenance needs that we may need in out place. :) It is nice to have a heads up on some of the projects though. The electrical is no problem either, we have yet to have a building that I have not had to run some kind of electrical in.

Theodore does have an upright piano, which will be in the Living Room area. I had a line on a baby grand, which would have been nice. Unfortunately, my friends found a buyer before I came up with the dough.

Our plans are to have The studio // office in the master bedroom. The other two bedrooms will be our bedrooms (obviously). The living room area downstairs will be set up as a sitting area // library // piano room, and also the place where Theodore will be giving his singing lessons.

The Basement will be split in two using some metal shelving units I have backed with cloth or paneling. Luckily, in the three bedroom unit the heater and water heater sit further out of the way then in the two bedroom.

The first half of the basement closer to the stairs will be the TV / Entertainment area. Neither Theodore or I are chronic TV watchers, so this place will do just fine. I will probably get some carpet to throw down (non pemanently) and a futon or something. (for when we have guests).

The rear of the basement will contain a "workshop" area with my tool boxes, and a small workbench for small projects. It will also contain some storage and the washer and dryer.

So.. I guess that is tentatively how the setup is going to be.

As far as Music, I have no talent at all. Which is why I was the technical person when I was working and touring in the business. :) I can play very little piano, and have been considering taking lessons. but who knows.

Theodore is a project music person, and can sing well... better then anyone I know personally. That is probably why he gets paid to sing. and teach.

In any case, I am more the technical / producer type person when it comes to recording and digital composition.

It would be fun to hang out and see what we can all do with our talents. As you said, to practice or just monkey around.

blah blah blah.

As far as your internet is concerned. I could probably find a way that you could get your internet to your spare bedroom. Completely legal for the townhouse. (Did I mention I am also the technical assistant to the head communications / IT guy at work?).

In any case.... I guess I should get to work. I am putting on the Superintendent hat today. I guess I should go buy lots of candles along the way.

Thanks again for the advice.
